Peran dosen mengalami perubahan seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi. Informasi yang dahulu hanya dapat diperoleh melalui dosen kini tersedia dalam jumlah besar di internet. Karena itu, dosen tidak lagi cukup berperan sebagai penyampai informasi.Dosen perlu menjadi fasilitator pembelajaran, pengarah diskusi, pembimbing penelitian, dan pembentuk cara berpikir. Nilai utama seorang dosen terletak pada kemampuannya membantu mahasiswa memahami informasi dan mengubahnya menjadi pengetahuan.Teknologi dapat memperkuat proses pembelajaran apabila digunakan secara tepat. Namun, teknologi tidak dapat menggantikan relasi pedagogis yang membutuhkan keteladanan, empati, dan pemahaman terhadap perkembangan mahasiswa.Transformasi digital bukan akhir dari peran dosen.
